William Henry Rodgers

William Henry Rodgers, 96, passed away on February 23, 2013. He attended Southeast Missouri University and the University of Wisconsin earning a Master of Arts. Bill was an Instructor at the University of Minnesota from 1946-1950; Director, Bi-National Centers in Guatemala, Nicaragua from 1950-1953; Foreign Service Officer, USIA from 1954-1976 where he held the offices of Cultural Affairs Officer, Information Officer and Public Affairs Officer. After retirement from the Foreign Services, Bill and his wife moved to Sun City, AZ in 1977. Since then he taught Spanish for five years at Rio Salado Community College and for about sixteen years at the College of Extended Education of ASU (formally Sun City Center for Lifelong Learning at ASU). He was a volunteer instructor in Spanish conversation for Circulo Espa±ol and was President of that organization for two years.He also tutored at the Dysart Community Center and recorded Spanish textbooks for the Recording for the Blind organization. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary K. Rodgers, a nephew and a cousin. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9827 Palmeras Dr., Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, Hospice Family Care or a charity of your choice. (Source: ASU Foundation, Obituary Registry
