The Video History Project began in 2001 at the suggestion of Mat Betz, ASURA's 11th President. To raise funds needed to conduct and record the interviews, Dave Scheatzle and Linda Van Scoy put on the ASURA Veterans Day Golf tournament, held during the years 2006 to 2013. They, along with John McIntosh and Roger Carter, have been the mainstays of the project during most of its existence.
The interviews collected and edited by the project team are interesting, informative, and often entertaining.
The library of interviews has become a real treasure for researchers, family members, and anyone curious about the history of the people who helped shape it.
The committee:
- Reviews nominations for people to be interviewed
- Schedules the interview
- Conducts and records the interview in the ASURA Video History Project studio
- Edits the interview, often supplementing it with captions and photos
- Creates a list of keywords that can be used to find the finished interview by topic
- Creates a short clip to give a taste of what is included
- Uploads the finished interview to the ASU Library Digital Repository
