Vernon Hastings was the Director of the construction management program from 1973 to 1987 and was instrumental in elevating construction education throughout the United States.  He was instrumental in raising millions of dollars in endowed scholarships throughout his retirement years for the School of Construction.  In 2002 the School received an $80,000 endowment in his name from the Del E. Webb Foundation, to complete the Vern Hastings Scholarship.
