Rudolph M. Susel
Asst. Professor in History
Rudolph M. Susel, 75, passed away on February 12, 2016. He graduated from Heidelberg University in 1962. He received his MA in 1965 and PhD in 1972 (both in History) from Indiana University. From 1967 to 1969 he was a research associate at the University of Minnesota working in the then newly established/Immigrant archives collection, focusing on Slovenian Americans. From 1970 to 1976 he was an Assistant Professor in History at ASU. In 1978 he returned to Euclid, Ohio and in 1979 became the Slovenian Language Editor of the American Home Newspaper. He served in that capacity until the publication's cessation in 2008. From 1981-2013 he served as Slovenian Language Editor of Our Voice, the official publication of the American Mutual Life Association (AMLA), a Slovenian American Fraternal Insurance Company. From 1994 to 2013 he was a member of AMLA's Board of Directors. He is survived by two first cousins.
