I joined the ASU College of Nursing faculty in January 1996 as an Assistant Professor. I was promoted and tenured in 1999 as an Associate Professor. While at the College of Nursing I served in a variety of positions. I was the Chair of the Division of Community/Public Health-Psych./Mental Health from 2002-2005, the Curator and Director of the American Museum of Nursing from 2002-2006 and the Founder and Director of the International Center for Nursing & Healthcare from 2005-2006. During this time, and in the years following I was active on ASU Senate and numerous Senate committees (e.g. Student-Faculty Committee, CAFT, Facilities). I was the President of the Downtown Campus Senate and also the President of the ASU Senate and Chair of the University Academic Council from 2009-2010. Throughout my years (1996-2000) at ASU I was active at in many Senate, campus and university committees.
I enjoyed many adventures and opportunities while a faculty at ASU with highlights being a Visiting Professor at Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine & Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam; Sichuan University School of Nursing, Chengdu, China and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji Medical College & School of Nursing Wuhan, China. In addition, I was the first College of Nursing faculty to take students in the Ecuador Amazon from 2002-2006 with the ASU Studies Abroad Program.
In truth, I am a nurse first, last and always and have a very strong service orientation and would be pleased, should I be selected to continue to serve the ASU community as an ASURA Board Member
