Richard J. Murra, 92, passed away on September 22, 2014. Richard is survived by his wife Jan, two daughters, four stepchildren, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Richard earned a B.S. degree and Master's degree that served him well through his career in the Air Force and at ASU. He joined ASU in 1972 as Professor of Aerospace Studies (AF ROTC). In 1974 he retired from the Air Force with the rank of Colonel after 33 years of service. In 1974 he joined the ASU Personnel Department as Manager of Compensation and Benefits and then Director of Personnel, a position he held until he retired in 1984. In 1991 he became a member of ASURA and served in various capacities until 2010. His service included Retirement Systems Liaison, chair of the Health Insurance Committee and member of the ASURA Board. He enjoyed his continuing association with ASU retirees. A family service will be held Friday at Meldrum Mortuary at 10 a.m. with a Military Honors ceremony at gravesite. Family requests donations be made to Wounded Veterans in lieu of flowers.
