January 7, 2026
Peter Wheeler Reiss received a Bachelor of Science from the Liberal Arts College at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. For one semester in 1959 he attended Georgetown University's Graduate School of Government in DC but hated it so much that he left before the end of the semester.
After that, he also spent a few days at the minor seminary in Milwaukee but soon realized that the priesthood was not his calling. In the mid-1960's he ran for the Republican nomination for US Congress without winning the nomination. Ultimately, he decided upon and obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Marquette University.
After graduating, he practiced law in Sheboygan, WI. Peter moved to Arizona in May 1969, to establish residency in order to take the bar in Arizona. During that time, he got a Masters in History from Arizona State University.
In 1976 he became a professor of Real Estate and Business Law at Arizona State University.
Peter is survived by his wife Carma, six children, twenty-one grandchildren as well as his six great-grandchildren (and three more on the way.) Peter is also survived by his younger sister and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Ruth Reiss, as well as his brother and two sisters.
