Minutes for January 12, 2021

 The meeting was held on Zoom.  Joy Shearman reported that she has spoken with our scholarship recipient and she received all A’s for Fall 2020 Semester and is sheltering at home with her mother and children.  Bev Buddee reported that there are 3 upcoming seminars focusing on technical training, nutrition, and physical therapy.  Larry Carlson is collecting books and now can take them directly to the South Phoenix Public Library. Barry McNeill asked that Carl Cross request the financial review of the ASURA books which was due in fall of 2020 but has not been completed. Jeri Meeks reported on the Governor’s State of the State message (see minutes for details) and ABOR’s request for funding in the new state budget.  The Tri-university committee on retirement issues met again in November to talk about best practices in retiree recruitment.  At the meeting, the issue of joint membership was discussed.  The general feeling in the ASURA was positive about that potential but many details need to be ironed out before approval.  The next meeting will be February 9, 2021 via Zoom.
