Mons Leslie (Les) Hansen, 92, passed away on December 30, 2014. He attended the University of Illinois. He served in WWII 1944-1946 as First Lieutenant with the 254th Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division in the European Theater receiving the Bronze Star, The Silver Star, Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart. His professional career started with Darling & Co, in Chicago. He worked for C.J. Patterson Co. in Kansas City and Wichita. In 1962 he became President of Arotex Uniform Co. After moving to Phoenix in 1964, he began his real estate career in commercial real estate with J. Leslie Hansen & Son. He started M. Leslie Hansen Realty in April 1966 as President and Designated Broker. The company grew in a few short years to five offices with many agents. He was President of the Phoenix Association of REALTORS in 1974, served as First and Second Vice President and chaired several Board Committees. Les was also a Director for the Arizona Association of REALTORS and served on the Membership Committee of the National Association of REALTORS. He was named 1968 REALTOR of the Year, was the 1984 Dean B. Service Continuing Achievement Award winner and received the Forty Year Emeritus REALTOR Award. He held the Professional Designations of CRB and GRI. After closing M. Leslie Hansen Realty in 1990, Les joined Realty Executives as an Associate Broker and recently was inducted into the Realty Executives Hall of Fame for 24 years of services. He also taught Principles of Real Estate at ASU’s College of Business. Les was preceded in death by his first wife Gloria, a brother and sister. He is survived by his wife Madaline, a sister, five children and three grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Les' life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 801 E. Camelback Road onSaturday, February 14, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. Reception immediately following in Parish Hall.
