Dr. Michael Eugene Mayer had a keen intellect and received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Kansas, followed by a PhD at the University of Wyoming. 

He spent his career as professor teaching communications at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Additionally, he coached Debate at both the high school and college levels.

He is survived by his brother.
