Mary Morrell Jenkins

ASU Student Health Center

Mary Jenkins

Mary Morrell Jenkins graduated from Maryville College (Maryville, TN).  She ventured West to teach art at McCann School in Phoenix.

She worked at the ASU Student Health Center in Tempe.

An artist, she created lovely paintings, beautiful metal work and jewelry, quilts, hand-stamped cards and other unique items.  For 25 years, each member of the family received a silver Christmas tree ornament commemorating specific family events, i.e. weddings, beloved pets, meaningful occasions, that showcased an array of silversmith techniques.

She belonged to and was active for many years in: Tempe Artists' Guild, Calligraphic Society, Quilts of Valor, Desert Botanical Garden. She was a founding member of Gilbert Presbyterian Church, where she served as Deacon and Elder, provided leadership in the Presbyterian Women's group, sang in the choir, baked a bazillion cookies and could be counted on for last minute craft ideas at the drop of a hat.

She was most proud of her success as a medical transcriptionist, working wherever they lived for doctor's groups or freelance, even after retiring from the ASU Health Center.

Mary's heart stayed centered around her church home and her family, which represented God's love for her in this world.

Her parents were John Ogden Morrell and Grace Montgomery Morrell, both deceased.

She is survived by 2 sons, a daughter, a sister, and several cousins.

There was a celebration of life service on October 17, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice, i.e. Presbyterian Women, Paz de Cristo, Best Friends Animal Society, just a few of Mary's favorites.
