Martha Straley Smith, 93, passed away September 15, 2018. She completed her degree at Capital University in Columbus Ohio. She went on to teach in Tipp City, Ohio, and later moved to Chicago while her husband, Marion, completed his master's degree at the American Conservatory of Music. They moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1952 when Marion accepted a position as a voice professor at ASU. She is survived by two children and two granddaughters. The visitation for Martha will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 East Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042. 602-437-0436. The funeral service will occur Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 215 East University Drive, Tempe, AZ 85281, followed by burial at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens.
