Madelyn Wright, 87, passed away on April 23, 2013. Madelyn began working at ASU as an office clerk and moved up through the ranks culminating with positions of assistant registrar and director of the Academic Scheduling Office. From the ASURA web site:“Madelyn Wright began working for Arizona State University in 1953. She retired in 1989. She helped bring the ASU Retirees Association into being, served on the first ASURA Board of Directors, and was the first Treasurer. She has been active in the association ever since, serving on the Adopt-a-Family committee, as a member of the Board of Directors twice, and as Vice President, President (1997-1998), and Past President. During her presidency of the ASURA, the Board established the endowed Scholarship Fund. She is survived by a daughter, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dean, her parents, and two siblings. A Memorial Service followed by a luncheon reception will be held on Monday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Arizona Community Church, 9325 S. Rural in Tempe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Madelyn's name to Hospice of the Valley , 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656. (Source: Arizona Republic)
