Lou-Ellen taught musical education at the Longwood Central School District for many years until retiring to Surprise, Arizona where she continued teaching Native American Cultural Studies at the Arizona State University.

Funeral Mass was held at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Wading River, New York. Interment followed at Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
