In 1986, the Bretting Family relocated to Phoenix Arizona. Once settled, Karen was involved in the School of Nursing at Arizona State University. She loved her career in helping others, which eventually lead to her retirement at Cigna. She is best described as loving and giving, making long lasting memorable relationships. Many outside the Bretting/Elliott family calling her "mom".

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 42 years to Bill Bretting and their two children.d

Funeral Service were held on June 3rd at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Tempe. The family suggests that any memorials given, be directed to the Remodeling Fund of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
