Josephine DeBartoli Marick, 79, passed away on November 21, 2013. She graduated from St. Josephs School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado. She began her career in Laramie, Wyoming as the Director of LPN Programs and later as the Director of the LPN Program at Nebraska Western College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. After that, she spent several years as an assistant professor for the University of Nebraska in Scottsbluff. Following her husband's retirement, they moved to Hayes, Kansas where she spent four years as an assistant professor at Fort Hayes State University. In 2000, Jo and her husband moved to Chandler, Arizona where she was an associate professor at Samaritan College of Nursing at Grand Canyon University. Before retiring, she was a faculty associate at ASU, College of Nursing focusing on her love of community nursing. She obtained a Master of Arts degree in Education from Chadron State College, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Wyoming, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She authored various articles for publication and was especially proud of the one she co-authored with her daughter. Her parents and two brothers precede her in death. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Nick, two children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Mortuary 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa, Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 440 E. Elliot Rd., Gilbert, Arizona 85234 with burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Catholic Cemetery. (Source: Arizona Republic)
