John Hall

John Hall was born in Walla Walla and lived in the Tri-Cities for 20 years. He was a retired university professor at Arizona State University. 

After graduating from Richland High School in 1960, John went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s, and a PhD, dedicating over 38 years of his career to academia as a Professor of Public Affairs and Public Service at Arizona State University, a founder and former Director of ASU’s School of Public Affairs and its Center for Urban Studies, and Project Director of over 40 large scale funded and often interdisciplinary Urban Research projects. He was an expert in his field, authoring and co-authoring numerous books on topics including Managing Community Conflict, Adult Resilience, Healthy Ageing, Public Policy, and Governance issues.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mary Jayne, and his brother. Dr. John Stuart Hall will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His remarkable life and enduring impact will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of a formal memorial, a private service will be held for the immediate family.
