John Stuart Hall
College of Public Programs - 38 years
Dr. John Stuart Hall earned a Bachelor's degree, a Master's, and a PhD, dedicating over 38 years of his career to academia as a Professor of Public Affairs and Public Service at Arizona State University, a founder and former Director of ASU's School of Public Affairs and its Center for Urban Studies, and Project Director of over 40 large scale funded and often interdisciplinary Urban Research projects. He was an expert in his field, authoring and co-authoring numerous books on topics including Managing Community Conflict, Adult Resilience, Healthy Ageing, Public Policy, and Governance issues. Cherished Family Man and Community Leader In his personal life, John found great joy in the simple pleasures – reading, working out, watching sports, and spending quality time with his beloved family. He could often be found at the gym, or on the golf course with his son and close friends. John's kind spirit, infectious laughter, an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 62 years, Connie; his son, and his granddaughter. John was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mary Jayne, and his brother. Dr. John Stuart Hall will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His remarkable life and enduring impact will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. In lieu of a formal memorial, a private service will be held for the immediate family. |
