John Xavier Evans, 85, passed away December 1, 2018. Dr. Evans, known as "Jack" was a founding member of "Great Hearts" schools and "The Phoenix Institute," and an English Professor at ASU, The University of Notre Dame and Middlebury College. Jack leaves behind his wife, Rosemarie, a son, a daughter and four grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 South Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. also at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
