Jim Wellington, 87, died on November 20, 2018. Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1951 through 1953. After being honorably discharged he attended and graduated from ASU in 1956. He then went to work for Arizona Public Service in different Human Resource management positions. He retired in 1991. He then worked for Kids Voting, Drake, Beam, Morin a New York management consulting firm; Maricopa County Human Resources, and the Wellness firm of Piotti, Johannsen, Robinson, and Roe. Jim volunteered for numerous non-profit agencies and community organizations including Chairman Recording For the Blind & Dyslexic Board of Directors; Scottsdale Friends of the Library Board of Directors; Member Scottsdale School Board; President, Arizona School Boards Association; President, Arizona Academic Decathlon Association; Commissioner, Scottsdale Planning and Zoning ; Member, Maricopa Community College Foundation Board of Directors; Member ASU Advanced Public Executive Program Advisory Board; President Phoenix Personnel Management Association; Chairman, ASU Center for Executive Development, and he served on the Hospice of the Valley organization Speakers Bureau for over 10 years. Jim was preceded in death by a sister and a son. He is survived by his wife, Alice Anne, two daughters, five grandchildren, one great-grandson, nieces and nephews. Other survivors are Anne’s two daughters, two sons and their children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Jim’s honor on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 1:00pm at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow.
