Jan is originally from Baltimore, Maryland but lived in various East Coast locales before moving to Arizona in 1998. She worked at The ASU School of Social Work as Program Manager for the Child Welfare Education Program, from 1999 until her retirement in 2019. Jan received her Bachelors degree from the University of Maryland and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jan’s hobbies include cooking, reading, writing humorous poems for family and friends, learning Spanish and piano online, and enjoying her granddaughters. Trying to train Skippy the Yorkie also takes up considerable time! She and her husband Mark want to visit all 50 states and have almost reached their goal, at 48 thus far.
