Dr. Imre Zwiebel's childhood was marred by the atrocities of the Holocaust. By 13, he had survived Auschwitz and a death march and at 15 he found his way to the United States.

He earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Michigan, a master's degree and a doctorate from Yale University, worked at DuPont and Exxon and then became a prominent scientific researcher, professor and department chair of chemical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Arizona State University.

Imre is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters; two sons; and 10 grandchildren.
