Howard Carl Katz graduated from Michigan State University and went to New York to work for J. Aron & Company, which became part of Goldman Sachs, where he worked for almost 40 years as a General Partner. 

Howard was the former Chairman of the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange. He served on the boards of Honor Health Foundation, Arizona Science Center, Child Mind Institute, Sandra Day O'Connor Institute, and was former chair of ASU Foundation President's Club.

Howard was a true patriot, having served in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. He had great posture, was passionate about current events and sports, including his own golf game. 

Howard is survived by his adoring wife of 28 years, Ellen, his two daughters, his seven grandchildren, two stepchildren and their children.

His beloved son predeceased him.

A service was held in Howard's honor on  October 20, 2025.
