Richard J. Murra was born and raised in Florida, Mr. Murra joined Arizona State University in 1972 as the Professor of Aerospace Studies, (AF ROTC). He joined the Arizona State University Personnel Department in 1974 upon retiring from the Air Force after 33 years of service. His active service with ASU included Manager of Compensation and Benefits and Director of Personnel, a position he held at time of retirement in 1984. He participated with the Department of Administration, State of AZ, on their benefit advisory board during his tenure with ASU and subsequently until 2007. After that he voluntarily assisted in AZ State Retiree Benefits issues including the annual Open Enrollment Guide. As a member of the ASU Retirees Association, he gave assistance to Arizona State University Retiree Association members on health and dental programs offered by the State. Mr. Murra and his wife Janice are both retirees from Arizona State University.
