Celia Cooper

Dr. Celia Allene Adams Cooper, 63, passed away on October 2nd, 2010. Born in Lehi, Utah, Allene graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor's degree in English and an MED in Curriculum, and from ASU with a PhD in English. After several years on the faculty at Boise State University, she returned to ASU where she served as a full time lecturer in the English Department for eight years until she retired in 2005. She was a highly successful English teacher who was at home in any classroom and who authored scholarly articles and a textbook. She loved to travel, spending time in Europe and Mexico and serving an eighteen month mission in the Brazil Sao Paulo Interlagos mission in her late fifties. Allene's funny wit and optimistic spirit lifted all who were around her. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by four brothers, two sisters, three sons, a daughter and 13 granddaughters.
