Carolyn Elizabeth Heier, 97, passed away October 6, 2021. She graduated from Bessie Tift College in Forsythe, Georgia. In April of 1945 she married William Dewey Heier, a decorated fighter pilot who in World War II served with Greg "Pappy" Boyington of the famous Black Sheep Squadron in the US Navy. In 1942 he transferred to the US Marine Corps as a pilot and continued his missions through the Korean war.



In 1966 they moved from Tampa, FL to Tempe, AZ where Dr. Bill Heier continued his career as a professor in the College of Business at ASU. Bill, Professor Emeritus of Management, passed away in 2010.



Carolyn is survived by one son. Her oldest son passed away in 2020. She is also survived by six grandchildren. Due to the COVID pandemic, no services for Carolyn are planned at this time.
