Robert (Bob) Culpepper attended Hendrix College for one semester, then began a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy in January 1951. During his Navy service, Bob served as an aircrew radioman flying in P2V patrol bombers, spending six months in Japan, and flying 28 patrol missions in the Korean Theater of Operations.

Following his discharge from the Navy in October 1954, he returned to college. Bob completed a BS degree in Accounting at Arkansas A&M College and earned MBA and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Arkansas.

During a 42-year career in university teaching and industry, Bob taught accounting at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.; Little Rock University; the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville; and the University of Missouri, Columbia. He spent 22 years, before his retirement in 1997, at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. While at UALR, he served 13 years as Chairperson of the Accounting Department and five years as Dean of the College of Business. Bob also spent a four-year interlude, from 1959-1963, working as an accountant for Puckett Industries of Amory, Miss.

During his academic career, Bob spent advanced-study sabbatical leaves, of one year, in residence at Stanford University and five months in residence at Arizona State University.

Bob is survived by his wife, Faber Culpepper; daughter and granddaughter.
