Barbara White came to ASU in 1990 to join the faculty of the College of Nursing as a Faculty Associate teaching in the Nursing Administration Master’s Degree Program. During her 23 years at ASU she was active in leadership at the college, university, state and national levels. She was promoted to Associate Clinical Professor and retired in 2013 as Professor Emerita of Nursing and Health Innovation.



During her years at the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation she served as Chair of Academic Assembly, Associate Director of Educational Support Services: Evaluation and Educational Excellence, and led curriculum redesign efforts in 2009, 2011 and 2013. At the university level she served on the ASU University Hearing Board, task forces including courses for the BIS program, and participated in the Tri-university Teaching Proposal Review Group for the Arizona Board of Regents’ Learner-Centered Grants 2004 and 2005. She was selected by her colleagues to be the 2013 Mary Killeen Visiting Scholar for Educational Excellence for which she presented a workshop titled Healthy Teaching 2020: Creating a Healthy Learning Environment (a topic that reflected a career-long interest and focus).
