Armando Ramon Alonzo
Statewide Technology Mentor

November 15, 2024
Armando Ramon Alonzo completed his teaching degree at NAU. Armando went to work as public servants teaching for the Glendale Elementary School District at Title 1 schools. Armando spent the next 11 years of his career in various capacities within the classroom. Notably, Armando spent several of these years as an art teacher, as an English as a Second Language (ESL) mentor, and as a classroom technology mentor. It was through his technology mentor role, introducing and fostering the use of technology in the classroom, that Armando's passion for technology blossomed. It was for this work, in his last year of teaching, that Armando was recognized by his alma mater, and awarded the Rising Alumni Award by the NAU College of Education. Armando went on to work for ASU as the statewide Technology Mentor training teachers nationally on incorporating technology in the classroom. Following this he worked for NAU/Arizona K-12 Center as the Technology Manager working to build software applications for teachers to use in their curriculum. Armando transitioned into the private sector as a computer programmer/software developer for three years before becoming the CEO of his own, highly successful, software consulting firm Array Custom Solutions. Personally, Armando was a deeply artistic individual and enjoyed activities such as drawing, painting, and making pottery of which he received numerous awards throughout his life. Armando also carried his love for sports into his adulthood coaching club soccer and mentoring his children in their respective athletic endeavors. Armando was preceded in death by his father Benito, mother Isabel, sister, and wife Lorri. He is survived by his four children, five His grandchildren, his brother and by his beloved beagles. A celebration of Armando's life was held on January 25, 2025.. |
