Anita J. Whitney, 87, passed away on June 11, 2013. Anita graduated from University of Alaska, Fairbanks with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Social work, and ASU earning her Bachelor of Arts in Education and her Master's degree Educational Psychology. She enjoyed using her educational background to work with underprivileged children and adolescents as well as with homeless youth. She and her husband moved to Arizona after retiring. Anita was a regular volunteer at Gammage, Hospice of the Valley, Volunteer IRS preparation, the Arizona Women's Initiative, and many other charities as they would call on her. Anita is survived by her husband Guy, four children, 11 grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held June 22, 2013 at 11:30am at Scottsdale Bible Chapel, 7901 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ. Memorial Gifts may be made to: Hospice of the Valley, or ASU Gammage.
