David Scheatzle is Professor Emeritus at Arizona State University, College of Architecture and Environmental Design. There he served as Associate Dean and retired from full time teaching in May 2001.  He has a B.S. (Architecture) from Kent State University, a M.S. in Engineering from Arizona State University and an ArchD from The University of Michigan.  He was active in the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, serving on technical committees relating to radiant heating and cooling and human comfort and doing funded research projects.  He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a professional engineer and a founding member of the Society of Building Science Educators. Most recent published research relates to comfort control in residences using passive and active techniques to control surface temperature (radiant heating and cooling).  He published a book on the history of ASU—ASU from the Air - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

Prior to his academic career, Professor Scheatzle spent 20 years with the U.S. Air Force in various positions around the world in facility management and teaching.

Dave is from Akron, Ohio, has been married for over 50 years to Brenda and they have 4 daughters and 17 grandchildren.

He joined the ASU Retirees Association as an associate member in 1999 and, after serving as President in 2004-05, was the editor of Prime Times for four years and is now active with the Video History Project.
