William R. Uttal (Bill), 85, passed away on February 9, 2017. Bill served as a Sergeant and then 2nd Lt in the USAF before receiving his PhD from Ohio State. Bill was the author of 140 scientific articles and 32 books in the field of cognitive neuroscience. He held positions at IBM, the University of Michigan, the USN Navy, and finally at ASU. At ASU he was a faculty member in Psychology before moving to Industrial Engineering and then CIDSE when CS and IE merged. He retired from ASU as Professor Emeritus, Industrial Engineering. Bill is survived by his wife Michiye, three daughters, seven grandchildren and a sister. (Source: Arizona Republic)
