Virginia Gravely Stewart, 99, died December 5, 2013. Virginia attended the Women's College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and took courses at Columbia University. Her career as a university administrator and student advisor began in 1962 at Northwestern University where she served as administrative assistant to the Chair of the Department of Political Science. In 1971, when her husband's corporate headquarters moved to Phoenix, Virginia accepted an administrative post at the ASU School of Law, and quickly advanced to Director of Placement, a position that she held until retirement in 1984. She made a difference in the lives of many Law School graduates, many of whom are now prominent attorneys, professors and jurists. Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Herman. She is survived by a brother, a son, nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Saturday, December 14, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, 22405 N. Miller Rd., Scottsdale, 85255.
