Thomas Carl "Tom" Uithoven, 81, died April 7, 2012. Tom completed a specialized program for medical photography and illustration at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He worked as a multi media specialist in Milwaukee at St. Francis Hospital and at Deaconess Hospital, where he pioneered the filming of open heart surgery. Tom relocated his family to Phoenix, AZ in 1965 where he provided specialized medical illustration and photography services to hospitals, physicians and lawyers. He was a member of the Biological Photographic Association (BPA), earning a Fellowship in 1978. He also founded Arizona Medical Media, training disabled veterans in medical media production, and was an adjunct professor with the College of Architecture at ASU. He retired in 1982 due to medical disability. Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn, three daughters, a son, five grandchildren, a step-grandson, a brother and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
