Stanley Brown

Stanley Brown, 81, died Sunday, July 25, 2010. Stan was born in Michigan and moved to Tempe, AZ in 1961. Stan was the Director of Food Services for ASU, Saga Food Service, and District Manager for Straw Hat Pizza Palace, overseeing 32 stores. It was during this time that he was invited by the U.S. Navy to work with Food Service Operations around the World. He was involved in several service organizations, including President of Kiwanis Club, AZ Food Service Executives Assn., AZ Restaurant Assn., Tempe Chamber of Commerce, and was a founding member of the Sun Devil Club and the Tempe Diablos. He worked with ASURA -- ASU Retirees Assn., as well as several other service-oriented committees. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, who passed away March 3, 2002. Carolyn and Stan were both active in ASURA. Carolyn was a board member from 1993-1996 and edited the Prime Times newsletter from 1995-2002. Stan was Legislative Liaison 2002-2003; Board Member 2004-2007 and Activities Chair 2004-2006. Stan is survived by three daughters, two sons, a sister, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
