On Wednesday, September 14th ASURA held the Welcome Back Pizza Party for new and returning members. 2016 marks the sixth year ASURA subsidized this welcome back kick-off event.

A panel of retirees preceded the celebration with a discussion titled: “Things I Wish I Had Known When I Retired”. Joy Shearman moderated the panel and gave some interesting insight into retiring and then returning to work. Bonnie Scheall gave some personal notes on her work and retirement experiences; a very reassuring note to ASU retiring staff. Larry Carlson, who worked in HR and dealt with retirement issues throughout his career, gave excellent advice to new retirees. In all the session was thought provoking, helpful, and well received.

After some initial questions, the 69 attendees enjoyed pizza, beverages, and conversation. President, Barbara White, welcomed the guests. Board and Committee Chairs then had the opportunity to announce events planned for the 2016-2017 year. It was also a time to encourage members, new and old, to become involved in ASURA programs.
