Roberto M. Acevedo

Roberto M. Acevedo,89, died March 22, 2012. He was Professor Emeritus of Spanish at ASU. He received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley, his MA and PhD were from the University of Arizona. He taught at ASU from 1964 until sometime in the 1980’s. He was one of the founding members of Chicano Latino Faculty and Staff Association (CLFSA). Roberto spent over two years in the Italian Campaign during World War II. He participated in the battle of Naples, Rome-Arno and the Po Valley receiving the European Medal with three Bronze Stars among other commendations. After the war, he studied in New York. He is survived by nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. He was the last of the Acevedo family of four sisters and two brothers.
