Robert Allen Patterson
Professor Emeritus, Zoology
Robert Allen "Bob" Patterson, 83, died on July 3, 2011. Robert was a professor emeritus at ASU where for 32 years he taught zoology and physiology. Bob earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and received his Ph.D. at Ohio State University in 1957. At ASU his research centered on the effects of scorpion venom. He also ran the university's Animal Resource Center and served as assistant chair of the Zoology Department. He was a founding member of the International Society of Toxicology and an officer of the ASU chapter of Sigma Xi, an international honor society for research scientists and engineers. Robert served honorably in the US Army, in 1946 and 1951. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann, four children and 12 grandchildren.
