Robert James 'Jim' Oppitz, 91,  passed away February 20, 2014. Jim received his college degree from McKendree College of Lebanon. He received his master’s degree from Washington University, St. Louis. He served in World War II as a member of the United States Army. Jim obtained his Master of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He was a professor at several schools including McKendree College, Lebanon, Ill.; Washington University, St. Louis; ASU, Tempe, Ariz.; and Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green. At WKU he taught accounting, finance and business for many years. During his time at WKU, he held a number of positions in administration, including assistant dean of the Gordon Ford College of Business. He retired from WKU in 1992. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth. a brother, a sister and two nieces. He is survived by two nieces and a number of other extended members of his family. A memorial service was held at the Unitarian Universalist Church. Donations in his memory may be made to either McKendree College in Lebanon, Ill., to the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bowling Green or to the Gordon Ford College of Business, Western Kentucky University.
