Rene Thoefield Willekens, 85, passed away on February 19, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife Mary and daughter Julie. At the age of 16 he enlisted in the naval academy during WWII. After the war he moved from Chicago to Arizona to attend the UofA where he earned his bachelor's degree and later a graduate degree at ASU. The majority of his working life was in education where he served as a math teacher and later the Director of Veterans Services at ASU. He is survived by his two sons and a daughter.
