Pauline Shelby

Pauline Ann Upton Dorsett Shelby, 78, passed away on June 2, 2011. She is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, C. William "Bill" Shelby. She graduated from Mesa High School and then ASU where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She started her 32-year educational career in Roswell, NM, thereafter working for the ASU Laboratory School, Tempe Unified School District, Burlingame CA School District, and finished her career in Mesa Public Schools by opening Ishikawa Elementary School as their Principal. Pauline also had a long list of educational affiliates and positions with them. She was past president of Association of Classroom Teachers of the Arizona Education Association, Burlingame Education Association, a member of the Coordinating Council and Advisory Group on Education Planning for the Arizona State Legislature, and presented workshops for the National Education Association.
