October 2023 - Medicare open enrollment seminar

This year, the Medicare open enrollment seminar was separated from the ADOA/ASRS medical insurance open enrollment seminar.  The presenters for the seminar were Joe Craney, Jr and Joe Craney III from the insurance brokerage firm of Senior Preferred.

The seminar covered

  • What is Medicare and who is eligible
  • Medicare enrollment periods
  • The parts of Medicare and how they work together
  • How much does it cost
  • What are the coverage options and benefit options
  • Avoiding late enrollment penalties
  • What Medicare doesn’t cover

Joe/Joe began the seminar by describing what Medicare is and then proceeded to discuss the different parts of Medicare and they relate to each other.  From there, the costs of the different options was discussed along with providing a comprehensive grid comparison of what is covered under a Medicare Advantage plan versus a Medicare supplemental plan.  Joe/Joe stressed that it is important to review and understand the different options that are made available since Medicare really isn’t a one plan/option fits all!

The seminar concluded with an overview of what Medicare does not cover but may be included in some of the Advantage plans on the market as well as the late enrollment penalties that may apply.

Joe/Joe invited anyone to contact them for more information or if they have questions.  There is no charge for this service, so don’t hesitate to contact them.  Their contact information can be found on the contact slide included in the seminar slide deck which can be found here.
