Nicholas V. Findler, 82, passed away in March, 2013. He completed his Masters (1953) and PhD (1956) in Mathematical Physics from Technical University of Budapest. Findler joined ASU’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering as a research professor in 1982. Since 1996, he had been Professor Emeritus of Computer Science and Engineering, and Mathematics, as well as Director Emeritus of the Artificial Intelligence Lab. Findler was one of the founders of AI and the founder of GCSS (Group for Computational Studies of Strategies). He authored or co-authored more than 220 refereed articles and wrote, edited and contributed to 45 books. He received an award and Golden Diploma for Life-long Achievements from the Technical University of Budapest in 2003. He also visited 119 countries for lecturing and conferences.
