Nancy Lesko grew up in Tempe, attended Broadmor, McKemy and Tempe High School, and started at ASU, but before her junior year, headed to California and spent 12 years in several states before returning to Tempe. After working in ASU’s English Department in a clerical position for a couple of years, Nancy returned to her studies at ASU and graduated with a BS in Business Administration (Management).
After graduating, Nancy became an employee, and then a partner, in a local property management firm. Missing the university atmosphere, Nancy returned to ASU in 1992 as the assistant to the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Zoology (later Biology), and then as assistant to the Chair, and as Executive Assistant to the Director (Charles Arntzen, Morton Munk ) during the reorganization of the Departments of Biology, Microbiology, and Plant Biology into the School of Life Sciences. At her retirement in 2009, Nancy was Manager of the Faculty (>100) and Administration area in the School.
Nancy is an avid quilter, sewer, knitter and card maker. Since 2008, she has traveled on a long Mediterranean cruise, a trip to Bali, a British Isle cruise, a Baltic Sea trip (including Russia), Columbia, Panama Canal, and Costa Rica cruise, and a cruise to and around the Hawaiian Islands, all of which were done in the company of fellow textile enthusiasts. Nancy and her S.O. Michael Quinlan met in the Zoology Dept. shortly after he received his Ph.D. there, and lived in the remodeled Daley Park home Nancy grew up in until recently. She is also a member of the Neighborhood Action Committee for the City of Tempe, and serves on her HOA's activity committee.
