Nancy Harris was a graduate of the University of Arizona, with a degree in accounting.

Nancy later became a CPA, and spent most of her career working for the ASU Foundation and Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, where she retired from the position of Deputy Director in 2014.

After retiring from Maricopa County, she continued her work with animals as a volunteer in the non-profit sector. She worked with Fix, Adopt, Save, and was a board member at the Animal Defense League of Arizona, where she also held the position of Treasurer.

Animals, especially cats, were her passion. She devoted herself to the principles of spaying and neutering to eliminate over-population of dogs and cats, while working tirelessly to encourage adoption into forever homes for these abandoned animals.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tom Harris, and her brother.
