Merylee "Mimi" Wilson

Merylee "Mimi" Wilson, 84, passed away on June 27, 2010. Merylee, known affectionately as "Mimi," was born in Petaluma, CA and moved to Chicago in the 1930's. She modeled for Vogue Magazine and was featured in many television and print advertisements. At the age of 40 Merylee and her 3 children moved to Arizona to begin her "Scottsdale Life." She returned to school receiving her Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate in Education from ASU. Merylee worked for the Scottsdale School District as a reading specialist, assistant principal, special education teacher and administrator of the Gifted Program. She created the Gifted Education Program for the Scottsdale School District, which became the model for other districts around the country. She also taught at ASU and the U of A. Before retiring at the age of 62 she returned to the classroom to work with children, her first love. Merylee leaves behind 6 grandchildren.
