Melvin (Mel) Richard Spradlin, 58, passed away February 17, 2013. Mel came to Arizona as a student at DeVry University and upon graduation, made Arizona his home. He was part of the computer-engineering department at ASU. After he discovered ATA Taekwondo, his love of and dedication to taekwondo led him to an early retirement from ASU and a move to Lake Havasu City to open his own ATA school - Spradlin's Taekwondo. Mel leaves behind a step-son, a son, a sister, brother, nine nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister. A Memorial/Celebration of Life was held at The Office Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m. There will be a Taekwondo Memorial Hike in May to honor Mr. Spradlin's taekwondo years.
