Matthew Ian Carter graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stout where he earned a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management and was an active member of the Chi Lambda local fraternity. Matt worked in the hospitality industry in various positions before dedicating his career to the W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU, starting in 2013. He loved his job and radiated enthusiasm, making everyone he encountered feel welcome.

Matt was a talented singer, brightening the days of those around him with his tunes. He loved music and could randomly belt out a tune at any moment and at any place.

Matt is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Kristin, and their daughter. He is also survived by his mother,  and his brothers, along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Duane, and grandparents Harley & Pauline Herron of Washburn, IL and Thomas & Elizabeth Carter of Joliet, IL.

A Celebration of Life was held on January 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or MD Anderson Cancer Center.
