Mary F. Rugg, 97, passed away on July 29, 2019. After high school graduation in 1939 she attended Butler University for two years. She married Gene Wood in 1941. In 1957, Mary, her husband, and son moved to California to start a new life with better opportunities for their son.  She worked as an executive assistant in the Cajon Valley School District until she moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1976, following Gene's death in 1975 from lung cancer. Mary began a career at ASU in the Department of Education but spent most of her professional time as an executive assistant in the Administration Department of the Memorial Union. She retired from ASU in 1986. When she first arrived in Arizona, she met Fred Rugg, a widower.  Fred and Mary were married in 1978 and were together until Fred passed away in 1992. Mary is survived by her son, a granddaughter, two great grandchildren, a sister, niece and nephew. Mary was interred at the Greenwood Mortuary Mausoleum in San Diego, California, next to Gene, on August 2, 2019.  (Source: ASU Foundation)
