Mary Kmetich Headington, 98, passed away on August 1, 2014. Mary trained as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II and at the Veterans' Hospital in Prescott after the war. She married Robert Headington, an economist and ASU professor who passed away in 1991. Mary was predeceased by her husband, three sisters and a brother. She is survived by nieces and nephews, and Robert's children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Sat. September 13, 2014 at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85257. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to DAV Charitable Service Trust.
